Pond plants include those that grow directly in standing water and those that grow along the water edge. In some cases, plants like Arrowhead can grow in both situations. The following is a list of some plants that would be suitable in/or near a pond edge. Some plants require moist but, not necessarily wet feet. Many of these plants will also perform well in the home garden. Check back frequently as this list will be added to. Presently, some native plant suggestions would include:
Arrowhead- Blue Flag Iris (Iris versicolor)
- Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum)
- Bottle Gentian (Gentiana andrewsii)
- Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis)
- Great Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica)
- Monkey Flower (Mimulus ringens)
- Sensitive Fern (Onoclea sensibilis)
- Swamp Buttercup (Ranunculus hispidus )
- Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata)
- Swamp Rose Mallow (Hibiscus moscheutos)
- Sweet Flag (Acorus americanus)
